Canada's N-Tel Communications is the first of what looks like many to come to pay fines to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) for providing illegal VoIP services in the country. Larger players have yet to pay any fines, but a major Bangladesh-based carrier goes on trial in August. Meanwhile, the BTRC is amending existing laws so it can impose even tougher penalties in the future.
