Blog VoIPer Jaxtr has raised $10.3 million in a second funding round, a company spokesperson confirmed. August Capital, also of Menlo Park, led the round, and Skype backers Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Mangrove Capital contributed. The stock portion of the backing is $8.8 million; the debt is $1.5 million.
The Menlo Park, Calif., provider of digital voice capabilities to online networks went live in March and has registered 1,065,000 users. The service interfaces with sites like Facebook, MySpace, Orkut, Craigslist, eBay, LifeJournal, Blogger and LinkedIn.
The service is international by nature; about half of those registered are from the United States, India and China. It purports to work with any phone, including land lines, while keeping users numbers private. Jaxtr is run by Konstantin Guericke, one of the founders of LinkedIn, whose bio on the website links to a live Jaxtr interface [1].
