German VoIP phone manufacturer snom announced the North American launch of its new high-end IP phone: the snom 870. The 870 comes with snom's klarVOICE wideband codec, 12 SIP extensions, a touch-screen interface for drag-and-drop conferencing and XML browser, among other features.
Mike Storella, director of business development, said in an interview that the snom 870's intuitive ease of use and productivity enhancing feature set makes the phone perfect for use in unified communications deployments. Storella also said that while competitors focus on building more media capabilities into their desk phone, snom designed all features of the 870 with a voice-centric approach.
The phone will be available immediately through snom resellers for a list price of $349, according to the company.
