AltiGen, a provider of VoIP business phones and Microsoft-based Unified Communications offerings, has just signed a deal with Italian distributor and telecom equipment vendor Hypercom. The move will allow Hypercom to sell and distribute AltiGen VoIP products to companies through Telecom Italia. Hypercom has its own business phone line and has been supplying services to Italian businesses since the '80s, but with this new agreement, the company expands its offering by adding AltiGen's VoIP business phones and other Microsoft-certified communications offerings.
The two companies began working on this deal in 2008, localizing AltiGen products and submitting them for testing and certification of compatibility with Telecom Italia's network. In September, the products were approved for sale, and now Hypercom is offering turnkey packages integrating PBXs with Microsoft OCS.
