13 out of 15 Fierce

As of late Sunday, the staff at FierceVoIP had agreed upon and vetted 13 out of the 15 companies for the VoIP Fierce15 to be announced on 9 A.M., Nov. 5, 2008. 

This has been a tough job, make no doubt about it. Companies for consideration must be privately held and done something tangible know-it-when-we-see-it Fierce over the past year. We've looked at factors such as executive leadership, announced customers, new products, partnerships, acquisitions and business strategy.

In a couple of cases, we've watched potential candidates get assimilated, er, acquired. Other companies who did outstanding things in 2006 and 2007 seem to have gone into cruise control - maintaining the status quo is not Fierce.

We're working hard to feel comfortable about the last two members on the Fierce 15. And I'll give better than even odds that we end up reworking the list some more before Wednesday morning.
