Acme Packet SBC 'key' to Hipcom's business communications expansion
CaaS and wholesale service provider Hipcom have deployed Acme Packet's (NASDAQ:APKT) Net-Net 4500 session border controllers, as it looks to expand its wholesale business access services to include unified communications based on Microsoft Lync 2010.
The British company is using the SBCs for SIP trunking and core functions that secure its service infrastructure, normalize SIP signaling and intelligently segment its network.
Hipcome's hosted IP communications solutions are sold through a network of reseller channel partners in the U.K. and supported by a range of strategic-vendor partnerships.
The company said the SBC functionality delivered by Net-Net OS was a key factor in its selection of Acme Packet.
"Hipcom partners with leading solution vendors such as Acme Packet to help us deliver first-class IP communications services," said James Brind, Hipcom's CTO. "Acme Packet's proven track record and the capabilities of the Net-Net 4500 SBC made this the best choice for us as more of our wholesale service partners transition to end-to-end IP services."
