Adtran UC deployed at University of North Alabama

Tools

Adtran has deployed its NetVanta unified communications solution on the campus of the University of North Alabama in Huntsville, and, in the process, will eventually eliminate legacy PBX and enable next-gen features and applications

In a major savings of cost and time, the campus-wide network migration from TDM to IP leveraged the university's existing infrastructure as the base for its migration to advanced UC services. Using the existing infrastructure also preserved the capital value of the network.

The deployment allows UNA to scale to support thousands of current users and, when needed, easily extend their reach and service portfolio to meet future communication demands.

UNA said it selected Adtran's solution for its support and flexibility. As part of the package, UNA will get an IP-based feature set that includes unified messaging, voicemail, fax server, call redirection services, auto-attendant and more.

UNA is home to about 7,300 students enrolled in four academic colleges.
