Agito Networks names new CEO/president
Agito Networks, a mobile UC/FMC hardware manufacturer, announced that seasoned telecom vet Amit Chawla will assume the roles of CEO and President effective Monday. Chawla comes to Agito from Veraz Networks, where he was executive vice president of global business units.
Chawla also spent 13 years at Nortel and was CEO of NexVerse Networks before it merged with ECI Telecom's NGTS Division in 2003 to become Veraz.
In an interview with FierceVoIP, Chawla said he looked forward to helping Agito grow in his new roles.
"I like the product solution Agito offers," Chawla said. "It's really a next-gen solution, as it has no legacy to protect and no proprietary technology to defend. I'm a big fan of open interfaces, and I'm also impressed with Agito's pipeline."
Chawla said he anticipated being able to help the company grow in two specific areas. He said he planned to work to continue the expansion of Agito's channel program, by aggressively targeting VAR's and other resellers. He also planned to start "interviewing geographies," as Agito is positioned to expand into "mature, sophisticated markets," according to Chawla.
Although Chawla takes the reins at Agito during a difficult economic climate, he said he thinks Agito is well-positioned to capitalize on the situation, and offer productivity enhancements and cost savings to companies closely monitoring the bottom line.
"We as a company view the (economic situation) as an opportunity," Chawla said. "Most CFO's of companies will be extra cost-conscious, and will look to extract more value on an ROI basis using their existing infrastructure. Agito can offer an excellent solution in this situation."
Chawla also praised the board and team at Agito, and he said the cohesiveness of the company impressed him greatly. Chawla said his biggest challenge as he takes over will be the learning process of getting to know staff, customers and partners, but he said he is excited to immerse himself in the business. He views the company's pipeline and potential for sustained growth as the biggest opportunity awaiting at Agito.
