App lets you call, text Facebook, LinkedIn contacts without phone number
Don't have one of your 1,400 Facebook friends' phone numbers but want to text them the latest news? Can't find a cell number for that VP of sales you're connected with on LinkedIn? Not to worry. SocialDial, a new app from Bababoo, lets you call and text Facebook and LinkedIn friends without having to know their phone numbers.

The app, available for Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iOS devices and Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android devices, will dial these contacts for you once you have logged into your Facebook or LinkedIn account. All you have to do is touch their name.
Bababoo, which launched last year, specializes in identity-based interconnections for voice and data, circumventing traditional telephone numbers, allowing users to connect via their social identities like email address, LinkedIn and Facebook identities.
The company launched at an auspicious time, with the popularity of social networking platforms booming.
"For the last 130 years, the only way you could call someone was to have their phone number, it was their unique identity, their only identity as far as the telephone company was concerned," said Randy Adams, CEO of Bababoo, Inc. "But today we have lots of unique identities, our Facebook name, our LinkedIn name and our email address, just to name a few. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to call someone based on those identities, and that's exactly what SocialDial lets you do."
SocialDial typically doubles the number of people a user can call or text, but also allows users to block anyone from calling or texting.
You can also group call and set up invitation-only conference calls from either your regular phone list, your social networks, or a combination. SocialDial uses local carrier connections and is available for free download at http://socialdial.com.
