Apple announces FaceTime video calls for desktop
If you were jealous that only iPhone users would get to play with the new video calling program from Apple, despair no longer. At its 'Back to the Mac' event this week, Apple unveiled that FaceTime is now available to Mac users.
Taking a cue from the Google's of the world, Apple chose to launch the Mac version as a Beta. The software allows users to get the FaceTime experience on their desktop and laptop with the ability to make video calls to other users whether they are using a computer, iPhone or iPod. Acknowledging our culture's collective Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), FaceTime for Mac includes a fade-away feature that involves fading the icons or other programs around your screen out so that you can concentrate on your video call.
The FaceTime for Mac Beta is already available for download for users running the latest Leopard build.
