Avaya goes in for services

Tools

Avaya, possibly hearing Microsoft's footsteps, says it's getting into consulting and integration business. The Avaya Communications Process Manager can pull information from a business process and trigger a communications response--sending alerts when inventory levels become low, for instance, or when deadlines get missed (gulp). Because the every business is different and business processes are non-standard, this this is a consulting sale as well as a software sale. No wonder Avaya likes the idea: the consulting/software business has been a big winner for SAP and lots of other companies.
