Avaya, Google serve SMB VoIP customers

Tools

Avaya is teaming up with Google to provide small-business VoIP. Google, best known for search, announced yesterday that it was offering a suite of standard office apps as Web-based services. The applications--word processing, spreadsheets, email, calendaring, and IM--have been in beta for several months, but now Google says they'll be available with APIs, guaranteed uptime and IT tools for $50 per user per year. Avaya says it will make its IP Office product work with Google's Jabber-based Talk application by the end of the year.
