Avaya launches new version of Avaya IP Office

Tools

Driving down costs while offering innovation is the name of the game these days. Today, Avaya introduced its newest version of Avaya IP Office aimed at delivering both of these things to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME).

Avaya IP Office Release 6.1  offers a few cool new features to the product. The Avaya one-X(TM) Portal for IP Office allows users to customize their UC desktops. Through the portal users can manage calls, instant messages and emails from one PC-based portal and provides flexibility by allowing users to place gadgets like Directory and Call Log anywhere on their screen as well as employ customizable 'skins.' In addition, the latest release provides more advanced video conferencing capabilities--multi-point HD videoconferencing with up to 4 parties and video integration with selected third-party SIP phones.

Beyond some of those whizzbang add-ons, the new release also provides some serious business features for SMEs. A new call center reporting feature allows companies to track customer campaigns and allows tracking via geographic information. Companies can track the volume of customer interaction in real time. SMEs can also manage their communication network across multiple offices from one consolidated interface.

To drive costs down, the company has put the whole release on a single DVD--cutting the install time down by 75 percent saving on IT costs acccording to the company. Additionally, the whole system runs on a Linux OS which involves no licensing costs like other operating systems. Total cost of ownership just got a little cheaper.
