Avaya targets mid-market with new hybrid cloud UC offerings

Avaya has taken to the cloud with its latest mid-market unified communications offerings. The products, elegantly named "Powered by Avaya IP Office and OnAvaya - Google Cloud Platform," won't be sold directly to businesses, but instead will be sold through partners worldwide.

The two products fall under the Avaya Midmarket Cloud Solutions portfolio and aim to be hybrid cloud UC options. According to the company's press release, the two new products are based on Avaya IP Office. They were designed to provide deployment of different UC capabilities based on current and future business needs while also allowing organizations to use existing UC investments.

Avaya's goal is to help mid-market companies control not only costs, but also the pace at which they migrate fully to cloud-based UC. There's also a story for organizations with branch offices here, as Avaya noted the offerings were designed so new locations could be brought online quickly.

Because it will be delivered through channel partners, pricing and exact features will vary. Avaya has essentially created a designation and series of technologies that are already finding their way to market. Some solutions providers are already on board to sell it, including ScanSource Catalyst (the only partner named in the announcement, but there are likely others already signed on).
