Backupify unveils enterprise backup service
Cloud-based backup provider Backupify last week released an enterprise-focused backup service.
The new program--designed to back up services like Salesforce.com and social media sites--boosts daily automated backups from once to three times daily, and allows one Backupify account to support multiple Google Apps subdomains.
A new service level agreement (SLA) also assures customers that their backup will be completed within a day 99.9 percent of the time. Future features will include centralized management of backups and support for multiple admins, according to a Backupify blog post.
Pricing for the service is $990 per month for backing up unlimited users and one terabyte of data. The company's hope is that the offering will reset its image as a business service provider in the minds of customers.
"People still think of us as consumer centric because that's where we started in 2009, but we've been selling more to larger enterprises--companies like Jawbone, The Financial Times, Berklee College of Music and New York's Museum of Modern Art," Backupify CEO Rob May told GigaOm. "Our product needed to be modified to take advantage of that."
