Bangladeshi VoIP operator hiding in New York?
The continuing VoIP shutdown in Bangladesh can apparently be attributed at least partly to a change in ruling parties. One of the people wanted in the government crackdown is a gent named Helal Khan, who was tied in with the former ruling party BNP. The government is accusing Khan of tax evasion for a VoIP call center as well as what appears to be a media duplication service. Kahn, an American citizen, reportedly scooted to the U.S. when the investigation was going down; authorities say he's selling "illegal" calling cards to expatriate Bangladeshis around New York City. (A quick phone book check did not reveal him in New York City.) He's facing 7 to 10 years of "rigorous imprisonment."
