BellSouth investigates VoIP security

Tools

In case there was any doubt, BellSouth has gotten interested in VoIP--though in typical telco fashion, it's examining all the risks. The RBOC is collaborating with the Georgia Tech Information Security Center and Internet Security Systems on a two-year $300,000 study to assess security risks related to VoIP. (Maybe grad students are cheaper in Georgia, but that doesn't feel like a lot of money over two years.) They'll be studying things like identity authentication as it relates to spam, modeling VoIP network behavior and security of VoIP apps.
