BT's financial voice services enters the cloud
BT (NYSE: BT) is bringing the power of IP communications to the trading floor. The service provider's newest addition to its financial services platform combines SIP technology with the could for financial trading operations.
Financial institutions adopting the solution will be able to deploy their SIP-based voice trading platform across their satellite office by centralizing the IP technology in one location or moving it all to the cloud. The software-based component mode service can be deployed to thousands of users equipped with BT's ITS.Netrix trading turrets with the minimum of disruption since the service is installed via the cloud.
"In the days of analog equipment, the largest trading floors could need up to 200 racks of equipment--the equivalent of a basketball court... This move to switchless open components is the next step in the evolution of the trading communications world and can reduce the data center space required down to just two racks, about the size of a pool table--saving space, power, and CO2 emissions," said Howard Boville, head of financial markets and MD trading systems, BT, in a release.
