Business takes to VoIP
Around 90 percent of the businesses responding to a Forrester Research survey say they're planning to migrate to VoIP, Teleppliant reports. The survey polled 516 businesses in North American and Europe.
Around one-third said they would transition to VoIP in the next year. Nine of 10 indicated the move would be made within five years. Twenty-three percent had completed the switch, up from 14 percent last year, and 54 percent said they intended to increase their budgets for VoIP technology.
The survey's author, Elizabeth Harrell, said IP-based PBX systems shipments started outpacing shipments of traditional switched PBX systems three years ago. Likewise, the installed base of enterprise VoIP lines is expected to exceed traditional PBX lines within the next few years.
