Cisco leads 11 percent enterprise Q3 growth
Consumer VoIP may have lost some of its hype, but the enterprise level is charging on, with Californian forecaster Infonetics Research recording an 11 percent jump in worldwide sales in Q3 to reach $2.6 billion. This followed a one percent drop in the in the previous quarter, with the rate of growth in the TDM segment actually out-pacing the IP PBX segment in Q3.
"The Big Three (Avaya, Cisco, and Nortel) had excellent quarters, all growing well into the double digits," said Infonetics analyst Matthias Machowinski. "The bump this quarter was partially due to seasonal factors, as the third quarter tends to be strong, but also because of increased demand across the board, even in the TDM segment. Overall, 2007 is on track for high single-digit growth over 2006."
Also noteworthy is the report shows Cisco pulling away from the pack in Q3, after several quarters of neck and neck competition between the top five IP PBX vendors.
Worldwide VoIP gateway sales are up 10 percent in Q3 over Q2 and the overall enterprise telephony market is forecast to grow to $12 billion in 2010.
