Cisco's Q4 is looking good
Although the real report doesn't come out until August 11th, Network World offers us a glimpse into Cisco's (Nasdaq: CSCO) Q4 results and they look rather rosy. Apparently, the major success is coming from the companies success with adding customers to its Unified Computing System fold, but other areas its seeing strength include that other unified area we are interested in--Unified Communications.
Oppenheimer & Co, an investment firm, surveyed 37 resellers in Cisco's channel and found that demand for data centers and other Cisco products were boosting Cisco's business in the fourth quarter. Sixty percent of the resellers surveyed saw UCS adoption to be moderate to high by the end of the year.
The unified computing play of course has always been Cisco's bread and butter, but the server world allows them to get into companies and offer them unified communications as well. Recently, Cisco announced it would even be getting into the tablet game, offering the Cius which will be outfitted with a personal video conferencing system as well as enough security features to keep companies' IT departments from freaking out. Additionally, Verizon Business announced it would be offering Cisco's UCC services over the cloud.
Apparently, investors expect Cisco to announce sales of $10.85 billion for the quarter, up 27 percent over last year.
