Consumers hate complexity, love support
In case you don't believe the last item, we're just catching up with an Accenture survey about the "digital home." It found that the 10,000 consumers surveyed love the idea and the promise of the digital home, but are finding it all too complicated and expensive. They want cheaper gear that just works--and they want great support, too. Even more interestingly, the survey found that consumers don't especially want all-in-one gadgets. Give them a product that does one thing exquisitely well and they're happy. This bodes badly for triple-play companies, unless their support is top-notch and their pricing is aggressive. Then, it appears, all else would be forgiven.
