CounterPath revenue up in 20% in Q4

Canadian provider of desktop and mobile VoIP software products and solutions CounterPath this week reported record fourth quarter revenues of $3.2 million, up 20 percent over last year, and a 7 percent increase from the previous quarter. It also reproted a net loss of $800,000, or 2 cents per share, compared with a loss of $700,000, or 2 cents per share in the year-ago quarter.

For the full year, the company had revenue of $11 million, a 38 percent bump from the 2010 fiscal year, and a net loss of $3.5 million, or 11 cents per share, narrower than its net loss of $5.4 million, or 17 cents per share, last year.

The company said strong sales through the fourth quarter enabled it to post record quarterly and annual revenues, driven by continued demand for its desktop and mobile VoIP applications. License revenue in the fourth quarter was up 49 percent over the prior quarter

"During fiscal 2011 we made significant inroads in developing channel partners through which we expect to continue to leverage complementary to our direct sales," said Donovan Jones, president and chief executive. "In addition, the extension of our suite of applications to Apple iOS and Google Android mobile and tablet devices has positioned CounterPath in the rapidly growing market segment. We expect fiscal 2012 to reflect solid business growth overall, notwithstanding typical seasonality on a quarterly basis."

CounterPath'c fiscal year ended April 30.
