Cox Business launches managed VoIP based on Cisco solution

Tools

Hosted and managed voice services are two ways that small companies are looking to save money and two ways VoIP service providers are looking to attract customers. With that in mind, Cox Business has launched its "Managed IP PBX+" service.

Cox Business has added a managed IP PBX solution using Cisco's Small Business Communications System. The offering is aimed at small- and medium-sized businesses with very little in-house IT services. The service will be monitored 24/7 by Cox and the company will provide pro-active maintenance to resolve issues. The solution features up to five networked locations, four-digit dialing, PC-integration and secure soft phone access.

The service is slated to expand to many Cox markets during the year, but currently the launch is limited to Las Vegas and Oklahoma. The service also means that Cox has become the first cable operator to earn the Cisco Managed Services Channel Partner Express Certification.
