Digium makes is easier to buy Polycom gear
Small and medium businesses don't have a lot of time or inclination to worry about their phone systems, which may be one of the factors slowing VoIP adaptation in that market. Digium, home of the Asterisk open-source PBX, and Polycom, leading makers of SIP phones, are working to simplify the purchase process. AsteriskNOW, the new GUI-enabled version of Asterisk, includes a BuyNOW button that lets customers buy Polycom phones and configure them easily. Easy is good, especially for SMBs, which tend not to have telecom or technology staffs. Digium was a 2006 Fierce 15 company.
