eBay boots Jajah
Reports last that eBay was letting Jajah post voice icons on user web sites were premature. Jajah announced that it launched a customized service to allow eBay users to talk live by clicking on an embedded icon. The only problem was that the Silicon Valley VoIP company forgot to tell the folks eBay, who promptly put the kibosh on the Jajah buttons.
eBay said the Jajah app violated its linking policies. Jajah said eBay is protecting Skype, the soft VoIP service eBay overpaid for two years ago. The Jajah service is similar to one provided by Skype.
The bottom line is that nothing much changes for eBay, while several million people who'd never heard of Jajah before last week now know what it is, including eMobile users in Japan. This is easily one of the top 10 guerrilla marketing maneuvers of all time.
