Ecessa to launch WAN controllers for SMB VoIP failover

Tools

Ecessa, the network controller maker formerly named Astrocom, announced a new set of WAN link controllers for small- to medium-sized businesses to manage failover for their VoIP systems. The ClariLink controllers, set to go to market in the third quarter, have a SIP proxy, SIP registration server and Network Address Translation proxy to allow SIP traffic to be balanced for automatic failover to redundant WAN links.

"More and more businesses are showing their interest in SIP trunking services, but some concerns around reliability remain," Infonetics Research analyst Matthias Machowinski said in a release from Ecessa on the news. "With Ecessa's newest product, small- to medium-sized enterprises can deploy multiple WAN links and enjoy high availability, automatic failover and link redundancy, ensuring the continued reliability of their IP network connectivity."

The ClariLink system's Network Address Translation offering allows for SIP traffic to move without interruption on NAT-based firewalls, a common issue for SIP deployments. Ecessa expects small businesses that want to cut costs, but are still concerned about security and failover issues, will be more comfortable deploying VoIP with the assurance of the ClariLink solution.
