The big 3GSM convention is running this week over in Barcelona. Even though it's a cellco kind of show by definition--GSM being the most widely deployed cellular standard in the world--there's bound to be some VoIP news coming out of Spain. You'll read about it later.

But what's curious about the synchronicity of the news over the last few days is that, even without 3GSM, there's a ton of interesting VoIP news from overseas. If you listen carefully, you'll hear a lot of telco walls start to come crumblin' down in markets big and small.

It doesn't have a thing to do with 3GSM. But it has everything to do with the original promise of the Internet; that bits and bandwidth, like water, find their own level and the the primal force of civilization is the desire to communicate. - Dan
