Fuze adds HD videoconferencing to its web meeting apps
Look out GoToMeeting and WebEX, online conferencing service Fuze is gunning for you. The web conferencing company has now added HD video to their conferencing capabilities.
Up until now, Fuze Meeting's core capability was just an elegant way to share desktop presentations while on a conference call with other business partners. Calls were often handled through outside phones, Skype or the mobile device if you were running an app, but recent versions have included a SIP VoIP client. Now with Fuze Presence, the company is adding telepresence and video conferencing to their repertoire. The number of video streams within a meeting is limited mainly by the size of the users display at this point. It works across multiple platforms with callers participating from various devices in the same meeting.
The new service give users access to HD video streams which would be a killer app in some parts, but the real kicker is its mobile capabilities. Currently the HD video streams to iPads. The new offering will soon launch on the Samsung Galaxy Tab allowing the tablet device to not only participate in HD videoconferencing meetings, but also host them.
