Genband SBC helps launch IPv6 VoIP network in Europe
Interoute, a European voice and data network operator, and Genband have announced an agreement to deliver an official IPv6 VoIP network in Europe.
Interoute will be extending its existing IP Interconnect and SIP Trunking solution by having Genband provide IPv6 support through its S3TM Session Border Controller (SBC).
"IPv6 is crucial to enabling the fast growth of VoIP for mobile operators as every mobile terminal and application within these terminals can now have a unique IP address," Interoute CTO Matthew Finnie said in a release.
The S3 SBC will interwork between IPv4 and IPv6 while maintaining security and enhanced routing capabilities to connect operators and enterprises using IPv4 with companies using IPv6 networks. Interoute's IPv6 network will provide IP-PBX trunking and Microsoft UC SIP trunking with enhanced dynamic routing and policy control while extending SIP and H.323 interworking capabilities to IPv6. The companies believe that this is the first IPv6 VoIP network to go live.
