Google Voice tests call recording

Tools

Call recording is a feature much pined for by presidents who claim to not be crooks and online journalists alike. Google recently started testing a VoIP call recording feature for its Voice offerings and it has fellow online journalists Motely Fool on the edge of their seats.

The search company is now allowing users to record calls with the click of a button. Of course, the feature comes with a catch: only inbound calls can be recorded. While the service is still in its nascent phase and may perhaps oneday reach maturity offering inbound and outbound calling, the move would make Google Voice a killer app beyond much of its competition.

Many users already take advantage of Google Voice's one-number-to-rule-them-all feature even when they might be employing Skype or some other VoIP service to actually make calls. Add-ons for Skype and Vonage allow for call recording and a lot of business-focused VoIP offerings offer similar features--like 8x8. The freelancer still might be relying on these smaller--freer--VoIP offerings and an increase in Google VoIP features might see a super simplified world for someone with out a flashy enterprise level VoIP service.
