Grandstream's Skype certified phone supports 3-way video calling

Tools

Skype's latest version has made a splash, particularly with their free (for a limited time) group video calling. As Skype tries to get its service everywhere and anywhere, the consumer facing PC applications are not quite enough to get on to the desktops of small businesses. With Skype Connect and its SIP-based service Skype is hoping to provide businesses with an elegant VoIP and video solution. Where to next? How about a desktop phone?

Grandstream Networks, a maker of IP communications products, announced that their GXV3140 IP phone has not only been certified by Skype, but also embedded native Skype software on the phone. Now companies that want to deploy Skype as their solution can use the service with a deskphone without using their computer.

The phone is capable of making and receiving video calls both in 2-way and 3-way mode. The phone has a 4.3" digital color LCD with an integrated Web browser that offers access to news video or RSS feeds, weather, IM, stock/currency updates as well as Internet radio stations, photo sharing sites, social networking sites and YouTube.
