GSA report: HD voice spreading fast in European Union

Tools

Mobile HD voice services have been launched or trialed (in anticipation of being launched) in about 40 percent of European Union countries, according to a new report from the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA). That is a fairly rapid spread for technology, which two years ago was still in its infancy and not yet commercially available.

The 40 percent figure amounts to about 18 countries. Within those countries, HD voice service is available on about 20 networks. Most HD voice activity has occurred in Europe and Asia, but the technology is in the process of expanding to other regions of the world. The GSA report also noted that the capability for HD voice is now available on at least 33 phones.
