Hackers take aim at China for '08
It may seem that fashionistas are the most fickle humans on earth, constantly switching from style to style, but hackers are forever moving from platform to platform looking for the easiest way to make the most of their criminal opportunities. In 2007, the iPhone was one such obvious target. In 2008, China may well come in for attention for more than just the Olympics.
According to Arbor Networks, the growth in software written for the Chinese market will make it a logical target for an increasing number of attacks. The fact that so many hackers now work out of China will make it easier for some to do intelligence on the systems they single out for penetration attempts.
China isn't the only focus of future attacks -- the iPhone is seen as the likely recipient of at least one significant vulnerability exploit in the coming year.
