IBM enhances SMB UC offering
IBM announced a new "office in a box" product called for the SMB market that the company says contains all the communications tools these businesses need in a simple interface that even those with limited IT experience can set up and run. The product, called Lotus Foundations Reach, combines usual UC suspects like IM, presence, email, calendar and mobility in a box the company says is small enough to fit under a desk and simple enough to set up in an hour.
Caleb Barlow, director of Lotus Foundations for IBM, said in a statement that complexity and cost often deter small businesses from deploying IP telephony solutions, but this solution eases those concerns and delivers a comprehensive communications offering for even the smallest of businesses.
NEC and ShoreTel, among others, have built offerings on the Lotus Foundations platform that they market to small businesses.
