Interactive Intelligence adds Yap voicemail-to-text solution to its business IP offerings
Converting voice to text has proven to be a tricky feat. Google Voice (Nasdaq: GOOG) has been attempting it for some time with mixed (if not unreadable) results. Yap is a company that offers such a service with automated voice-to-text conversion that is often cheaper than services that use humans to do the transcription--and apparently it does so with a "high rate of accuracy."
In the past Yap has been known for its speech-to-text services to help mobile phone users reduce their need to type text messages and emails. Its services have been employed by Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) for a Blackberry app. Voicemail transcription, however, represents a move into the true unified communications (UC) realm. Back in November Calltower added Yap's services to its cloud-based UC services. It looks like things are going well since now Interactive Intelligence is adding the service as well.
“Yap's automated voicemail preview service will offer our customers yet another powerful tool for more efficiently accessing, managing and responding to their voice messages,” said Interactive Intelligence chief marketing officer, Joe Staples in a release. “In addition, Yap’s high accuracy rates will ensure the kind of quality of service our large enterprise customers demand.”
