INX deploys unified communications for Texas healthcare provider
VoIP is useful across all sorts of businesses and with the advent of unified communication (UC) technologies more sectors are embracing the power of IP communications. INX, a UC provider, was brought in by a healthcare firm to help build the communications systems for a new hospital in North Texas.
The new hospital features an INX solution that offers a unified communications and data network to support almost all hospital communications including voice, video and data. There are about 450 VoIP phones throughout the hospital allowing all call traffic to run over the data network and save the facility money.
With the VoIP system in place, the nurse call system and the phone system are tied together to decrease* nurse response times to patients. The nurses receive call alerts on their wireless IP phones through the INX solution. Going forward, the hospital is considering future additions like an RFID asset tagging system as well as video communications.

*Thanks to Marc at www.csinursecall.com for pointing out we meant 'decrease' not 'increase' as we published earlier. Sorry for the confusion, these technologies are supposed to speed things up and make patient care better!
