IP Telephony grew 10 percent in Q3 2009
According to Dell Oro Group's 'Carrier IP Telephony Report', IP telephony grew 10 percent in the third quarter and the VoIP market is on the road to recovery.
The report stated that the market for equipment grew to $784 million in the third quarter. The positive results were driven by service providers spending on VoIP systems infrastructure. In addition to enterprise spending, small- and medium-sized businesses were also drawn to upgrade their telephone systems--lured in by the promise of unified communications and SIP Trunking.
Dell Oro's findings somewhat echo the recent Infonetics report which said that worldwide service provider Voice over IP equipment revenue totaled $595 million in Q3 09, though the metrics are a little different.
