Is Vonage a victim of a bad patent system?

Tools

Thought we get through an issue without mentioning Vonage? Maybe next time. Ars Technica has finally weighed in with a typically intelligent and forthright analysis of Verizon's victorious patent claims, which it decides are partially prune juice, partially represent a step backward in network administration, and are mostly an attempt to monopolize an industry. To add some icing to the cake, the article draws a direct parallel with a patent case that's already been argued before the Supreme Court, with a ruling expected sometime later this spring. The bottom line is in the last paragraph, which uses the Vonage case as evidence of the need for patent reform.
