Israeli VoIP regs coming soon

Tools

Here's a neat trivia question: Which nation has the most Skype users per capita? Answer: Israel, whose telecom regulators are finally going to establish some rules for broadband-based telephony. It seems that Israel, despite being a tech hotbed, has woeful connectivity; the fastest broadband line available is only 2.5 mbps. In addition, the legacy telco, Bezeq, is legendary for its bureaucracy and hostility to customers--which may be why there are twice as many wireless lines in Israel than fixed. In any event, the Communications Ministry is saying that it hopes to get its regulatory house in order shortly.
