Japan's eMobile VoIPs with Jajah

Tools

Japan's eMobile has launched mobile VoIP service using IP voice software from Jajah. A report originated by Telecompaper said the service will run over eMobile's HSDPA network on proprietary handsets with pre-installed Jajah pre-installed.

Call rates on the "ONE Alpha" handset will run 2 cents a minute for domestic land line calls in Japan and around 13 cents a minute for domestic mobile calls. International land line rates are around 2 to 3 cents a minute. The service is scheduled to launch Oct. 18.

Forget about Vonage and SunRocket. This alignment is just one more indication that consumer VoIP is a WiFi play.
