LifeSize enhances video collaboration features
Videoconferencing technology developer LifeSize on Tuesday released new features for its video collaboration platform in an effort to extend its reach to mobile workers.
The LifeSize UVC Multipoint feature is designed to optimize resolution of video communication on mobile devices. The platform's LifeSize Bridge capability allows high-availability clustering to expand the number of people who can participate in video calls.
LifeSize said its aim is to help enterprises with increasingly mobile and remote workforces boost productivity, and to include the growing number of enterprise employees who use their own mobile devices at work.
"The vision behind the LifeSize UVC Platform is to fundamentally change the way businesses deploy video infrastructure by consolidating multiple applications on a single, virtualized interface," said Michael Helmbrecht, vice president and general manager of video solutions at LifeSize, in a statement. "This new offering addresses the needs of the massive BYOD movement whereby the power driving new technologies has shifted from the corporation to employees themselves."
The offering follows the trend of video collaboration providers pushing more into distributed enterprises as workforces become more geographically dissipated.
