MetaSwitch eyes South American market
MetaSwitch announced a strategic alliance with Argentine systems integrator Technology Bureau as part of its continued expansion into the South American market. MetaSwitch said the partnership will allow Technology Bureau to offer next-generation voice services to both enterprise and consumers alike, while giving MetaSwitch an increased sales presence in the region.
"Through our close relationships with many regional network operators, we are hearing that there is strong demand for proven, high quality carrier VoIP solutions from stable, reliable vendors," Adrián Zamel, president of Technology Bureau, said in the release. "As we studied this market, it became clear that MetaSwitch is uniquely positioned for success and an ideal partner for us."
Carol Daniels, director of marketing for MetaSwitch, said the softswitch and application server vendor has been working with Technology Bureau for a while addressing the market opportunity, which she considers very similar to the cooperative selling landscape in the U.S.
"The carrier customers we're targeting with the partnership want additional revenue sources as they go through their migration to IP networks," Daniels said. "These co-ops aren't very big, but are very innovative, want to make moves, and can't do it with legacy gear."
Daniels said Technology Bureau has worked with regional carriers for years, giving Technology Bureau expertise with the technical and regulatory climate in the area. She said customer announcements through the partnership should go public in the next month.
