Metaswitch grabs service broker vendor AppTrigger

Metaswitch, the VoIP technology company, is acquiring AppTrigger--a Texas based service broker vendor. The company specializes in a type of media gateway that allows software written for one type of network to run on a different network. According to Light Reading article such a device can act as a softswitch, media gateway and signalling gateway allowing wireline applications to work on a wireless network.

The merger also means new Metaswitch CEO Kevin DeNuccio is bringing old friends back under his wing. AppTrigger CEO Chris Todd used to work under DeNuccio at Cisco.
