Metaswitch names DeNuccio CEO
Metaswitch, the carrier VoIP systems provider, has decided to bring some new firepower to their leadership naming Kevin DeNuccio as CEO of the company. DeNuccio was once director of the edge router company Redback Networks and led its growth to a top spot in its sector before being acquired by Ericsson.
DeNuccio has sat on the board of Metaswitch for the last year giving him a running start as he moves to head the company. In the release, the new CEO gave his take on the company and his plans: "I soon realized Metaswitch had a quite extraordinary combination of talent and technology--traditional telephony and exciting new mobile, IP-based applications--that could fill this innovation gap and propel it into the ranks of the major vendors worldwide. So, when the opportunity arose to help drive that strategy from the inside, I jumped at it."
With DeNuccio's history of helping the companies he oversaw grow to become industry leaders, Metaswitch claims naming him the new CEO is just the beginning of some rapid growth on the horizon--and it seems from his own admission getting into the ranks of the major vendors is what he has in mind. Back in October, the company announced its 2008/2009 revenue showing that the company's revenue grew 4.2 percent despite the rough economy. Revenue increased from $94.5 million to $113.7 million. With this latest push, I am guessing the company will be looking to improve even more on those numbers in 2010.
