Microsoft Tweaks Response Point

Tools

Microsoft has released the first service pack (SP1) for its Response Point small business IP PBX software, officially enabling SIP trunking and adding support for new vendors.

Targeted at small businesses with one to 50 employees and available through resellers and Costco.com, Response Point SP1 includes SIP trunking for VoIP calling, click-to-call functionality for any contact using the Assistant, a call history log, and the ability to select music for parked calls and hold time. SIP trunking support had been previously announced, but not implemented, earlier in the year.

Adding to the fun, Aastra Technologies has announced its debut phone system built around Response Point. The AastraLink RP base unit comes preloaded with SP1 and the starter package with a base unit, three phones, and PSTN telephony adapter lists for $2,400. D-Link and Quanta Computer also are shipping dedicated bundles with Response Point.

On the service side, Junction Networks joins Cbeyond and New Global Telecom (NGT) in offering SIP trunking for Response Point.
