Mitel offers new Unified Communicator Advanced enhancements
Mitel, a Unified Communications (UC) solutions and managed services provider, has released a new version of its UC offering called UC Advanced 3.1. UC Advanced 3.1 adds web and mobile portal improvements and a new dynamic location client application available for BlackBerry smartphones. In addition the company is now offering the service as a server appliance.
With the new web and mobile portals, UC Advanced users are free from being tethered to the PC client and can now access the UC system remotely. Users can access corporate contacts, presence information, call history and voice mail message details, and download and play voice mail messages from the web browser. An extension of this mobility feature is the Blackberry client which feeds GPS signals into the the UC presence system to make automatic presence updates (or manually if users prefer).
The company is also making UC Advanced available as a server appliance pre-installed with Mitel Standard Linux. The offering means lower overhead for Mitel customers with an easily deployed solution for any size business.
