Net neutrality bill re-introduced

Tools

Those of you who were paying attention in civics class will recall that the U.S. Congress changes over every two years. That means unfinished business from the previous Congress more or less expires and needs to be re-introduced. With a new Congress starting this month, some of that unfinished business is coming around again, including the matter of network neutrality. Senators Olympia Snowe and Byron Dorgan (she a Republican, he a Democrat) reintroduced their bill institutionalizing the current practice by which all telecom networks carry more or less all traffic from all other networks. The bill was defeated pretty much along party lines last time out (Republicans opposing it). With Democrats now in the majority in both houses, its fate this time may be different--but in Washington, who knows?
