NetTalk Duo gets shelf space at Walmart Supercenters

Tools

VoIP provider netTalk has been getting shelf space at a variety of big retailers of late for its VoIP phone, the netTalk Duo; the company announced today what may be a Holy Grail--of sorts--the phone has made its way into Walmart.

The device carries an MSRP of $69.95, which includes the first year of service, with additional years available for $29.95. Both are now available at more than 1,000 Walmart Supercenters.

"With this agreement with Walmart, the world's largest retailer, we have expanded our bricks and mortar distribution by many orders of magnitude, which aligns with our long-term strategic growth plans," said Takis Kyriakides, netTALK's president and chief executive.

The netTalk Duo enables free calls to Canada and the United States, and it offers competitive international rates and a portfolio of other features. The device simply plugs directly into a router or modem (or computer).

The VoIP startup competes with low-cost services like MagicJack, and in April it raised $2.5 million to help it push into brick and mortar retail locations.
