netTalk said its Duo WiFi device is off and running to record sales


VoIP provider netTalk said it was ringing up record sales of its netTalk Duo WiFi digital-device and phone service.

The Miami-based company said sales in the first 30 days since the service's launch have exceeded projections.

The company, in recent months, has aggressively expanded the shelf presence of its VoIP phone, netTalk Duo, at a number of U.S. retailers. The netTalk Duo WiFi device launched with availability in Target stores across the United States.

Net Talk started last month offering telephone-number porting, which it said was its customer's No. 1 requested service.

The netTalk Duo WiFi, which retails for $65, can be set up anywhere in a house or office that has a WiFi connection. It includes e911, 411 directory assistance, conference calling, and international and tiered calling plans.

"We invented the netTalk Duo WiFi in response to feedback from our customers," said company CEO and president Anastasios Kyriakides. "It is the latest, giant step for us."

The netTalk Duo enables users to make free nationwide calls to any phone in Canada and the United States. from anywhere in the world. It also offers low-cost, flat-rate international calling plans, among other features.

The company didn't provide specific sales figures, in its statement.
